Stirred But Not Changed, Pastor Caleb. Part 1

I took notes with my phone, didn't know why I never thought of that earlier. The thing that I noticed when I was taking notes was that following Pastor Caleb is really hard, lol.
So the points I number may or may not be right, cause he was like 3 kinds of this, then half way through number 1 he'll say and I'll share on 3 kinds of that. So I was lost =P

Stirred but not changed, the point that Pastor is trying really hard to implant into the Nex-Gen-ers. He knows very well that when we listen, we just listen and get fired-up for the day or week, but then lost it easily. Like Paradise Band, when they came and did their concert, everyone was fired-up for God, but when they left, the burning gone. I understand how he feels very well, because like Paradise Band, last we hand a concert by another group. People we lifted up, and energized, but lost it fast during the weeks that came. I also strongly disagree with how people get stirred but they do not change in their life. It's terrible, really, its like a disease for everyone.

Pastor Caleb preached from Matthew 21:1-11

Matthew 21:1-11

The Triumphal Entry
1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage,at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loosethem and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
5 “ Tell the daughter of Zion,

‘ Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.’”

6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. 8 And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:

“ Hosanna to the Son of David!

‘ Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’
Hosanna in the highest!”

10 And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?”
11 So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
Pastor Caleb used this passage to give an example of how people are stirred, but they do not change. If you have read the passage, you would know that Jesus was approaching Jerusalem, and that before His entry into the city, he asked his disciples to get Him a colt that He may sit on.

*Sidenote now for Jesus to be sitting on a colt and entering the village, in modern terms, He was driving a Kancil, in other words a cheap car, not a BMW nor a Merc but a cheap car. This is to prove the prophesy of Isaiah that Jesus would enter into the city as a humble servant.

The disciples found the colt that Jesus spoke of and brought it to Him. Jesus sat on it and entered the city, as you read the people were screaming. Flowers were being thrown!!!! THE CROWD WENT WILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and all for the wrong reason, for the same crowd that rooted for Jesus had Him crucified the following days to come.

Pastor was afraid of this, that we had our worship of Jesus all wrong. That we were fired up for a moment then lost it so easily, thus our worship to God was nothing but an adrenaline that lasted for a short while. The true worship of God last forever, that adrenaline will never die down.

So Pastor gave four types of reasons why the crowd in Matthew 21 was not right.
Forgive me, for I did not pay attention during his first 2 points and I didn't get it. But maybe he said it, but its kinda hard to grasps.

  1. >_<
  2. >...<
  3. Peer Pressure, Mobs, Groups

Thirdly, these 3 types of groups can effect people. Just like how it effected the crowd that welcomed Jesus, these people were either peer pressured by people around them or grouped together and just went for it.

This is very common around our daily lives, we are always brought into situations whereby peer pressure causes us to make decision that are mostly wrong, but only a bit right.
So this is very general, because all of us can give our testimonies of what happened to us in many different scenarios, lives, relationships, work, studies, etc..

But lets look at this more specifically, which is Worship. Do you know that Worshiping God can be peer pressure too? I'm sure most of you will know this, and sadly is very very
    common in most Christians.
Most Christians are brought up in Christian homes, and
we just take it for granted that we have to go to church, we have to worship God, we meet with our friends, we go because our friends go, we go because this super hot chick goes/or we go because Denzil goes, but why is it not, we go because we just wanna worship and listen to God?
Our mindset of going to church and worshiping God has been tainted, it is superbly wrong.

Mobs & Groups, the same crowd that loved Jesus, wanted Him to be crucified. Most of them was because they were grouped or in a mob. They had no reason, they just followed the mob, they just went with it. Terrible isn't it? Don't, don't go to church because people don't go, it is really bad. Know what you are doing, do not just go with it, stop and think.
Have the right heart for going to church.

  4. Wrong Idea About Jesus

Lastly, people have the wrong idea of Jesus. The crowd had the wrong idea of Him, to them He may have been like a celebrity, and like fans to celebrities. They were crazy for Him.
Quite simple here, this goes together with point 3.

In summary, the crowd was peer pressured together for the wrong reasons.

Pastor spoke a lot and I don't think I can fit everything into one post. So I'll break it up into like
3 parts, hopefully its enough >_<
