Courage in the Face of Fear or Adversity
by Pastor Lydia.
Thats how I think it would look like if it were an article. Pastor Lydia needs a short title, at least make it more catchy. She preached this from chapel at school, and I took notes like a good lil' boy should! So this is more off from my notes than memory.
Pastor Lydia, preached about being The Courages Christian, and from the passage of
2 Chronicles 32:1-8
1 After these deeds of faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and entered Judah; he encamped against the fortified cities, thinking to win them over to himself. 2 And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come, and that his purpose was to make war against Jerusalem, 3 he consulted with his leaders and commanders[a] to stop the water from the springs whichwere outside the city; and they helped him. 4 Thus many people gathered together who stopped all the springs and the brook that ran through the land, saying, “Why should the kingsb]" style="font-size: 0.75em; line-height: 0.5em; ">[b] of Assyria come and find much water?” 5 And he strengthened himself, built up all the wall that was broken, raised it up to the towers, and built another wall outside; also he repaired the Milloc]" style="font-size: 0.75em; line-height: 0.5em; ">[c]in the City of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance. 6 Then he set military captains over the people, gathered them together to him in the open square of the city gate, and gave them encouragement, saying, 7 “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. 8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
The passage talks about King Hezekiah of Judah, a young king and was always having his kingly life together with God's, though sadly near his end he disobeyed God. But one of the much better Kings of Judah when compared to the evil ones.
Sidenote* His the same king who, when God did a miracle of stopping the earth's movement on its axis and rotated the earth backwards.
So Pastor Lydia starts off with the statement of "Arise in Courage!"
- Courage Exalts Christ
- Courage goes together with worship(worship has been the topic of this month really strongly, I'm sure God is trying to state a strong fact about Worship.). Worship exalts Christ, it puts Him in the position that is to be worshiped.
We need to be courageous in our worship of God, why do we need to be courageous? Later on in her second point, Pastor Lydia makes a really good statement why.
- Courage will reflects Christ character in us. 1 John 4:4 *SMV, memorize it =)*
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
So by reading this verse, we can see that having Christ in us, makes us greater people than that of the world. This proves that, in Christ not only in our spiritually life, but also our daily lives we can be more successful than the average person!
One thing about Pastor Lydia, she uses stories to help make the message to sink in easily.
Her first story out of 3, LoLs I only took down 2 of the important ones.
The Inn of Sixth Happiness.
(Going abit informal ere)
You would be like WUTTTTT???
Unless you've lived for over 40+ years than you would know whats this or your just really really all knowing bout these things =P.
The Inn of Six Happiness, is a wonderful movie/story*real story* about a missionary named
Gladys Aylward, from Britain who went to China and lived there, during the times before and during World War II. She helped orphans escape the Japanese, and to run to the borders of China. China is very big, its capital is bigger than 1/2 quarter of Malaysia so yeah they ran alottt.
Anyways near the end when all hope seemed lost, and there was nothing else that she could do, one of the orphans told her that, uhhh something about God is with her, and that she can do it. Sorry =/.
If you would like a deeper detailed summary of the show, then go to wiki, which is here.
Anyways Pastor Lydia said that, and the same thing that I said before, "No matter how we feel, God is still God." So even though Gladys was all lost, and without hope, God being God was there and will and still is able to help her.
- Courage and Courages, Courage!(2nd Point, blogger isn't that awesome for a writing program)
The point means that a courage, and many other courages, becomes at COURAGE!
All it needs is one person to be courages and the others will follow.
Same place, same time in China, but not the same story, there was a Christian school that was located in some place. One day Japanese soldiers came and called everyone out to the school yard and took the cross from the building and put it at the front gate.
They told the little children "If anyone steps on this cross, will be allowed to leave, but if you bow down to it, then you will be shot dead."
So the first boy came, and stepped on the cross and they left him leave. Then the second came and did the same. But the third was a little girl, she went to the cross she bowed down humbly, and they shot her. *yeappppp I felt really sad* And because that one girl, took the courage to do that, the other children followed after her. That day, 100 children were shot dead. The massacre ignited the people in the town to group together to go against the Japanese for what they did, but sadly they were killed also, but their faith for God was great.
One girl, one courage, many followed.
Closing her message, Pastor Lydia said, "Set the example to let others follow and to exalt Christ."
Okay to those who are not that sane, this does not apply to the rule of,
IF HE JUMPS ILL JUMP TOO!!! =D +D XD +)))))))
=_= no... Know what is right and wrong based upon the Bible, our faith should always be in accord with the Bible and with God, with that at united Christians we can face anything.
Today's message will be done tomorrow =) Late dy!
