Two Views of God

The normal way:
1. Religion: Man's normal attempt to reach God.
Isaiah 29:13
Hearts are far from me
Rules taught by men

Religion is an outward show.

Religion leads to:
1. Pride
2. Despair

Pride, we think we right and better than others.
Despair, I try but I'm not that spiritual, not good enough.


The weird way:
2. Christ: God's weird way to reach man.
Philippians 3:4-7
Paul did everything right a religious person could do, but all of it is rubbish.

Isaiah 3: 8b-9
Knowing Christ Jesus my Lord
Lost all things, consider them rubbish.
Through faith in Christ
The righteousness that comes from God

Rubbish: skúbala (scoo'-ba-la) , garbage, human or animal dung.
Skúbala happens.

You can take all the religious things and works but it is still poo.
No matter how mich you have, its still poo.

The purpose of the law is to show that you need a Saviour.
Jesus took all our bad things from us.
